Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox first posted songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with five Finger Discount. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's remark. Later in the season, the music was played around Dreamville. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had been contracted by Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video then released in September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole as part of the Creed II sound track on November 16. In February of 2019, the video music for this track was launched. The song has received over three million YouTube views in just a single week. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
